Design and creation of a water treatment system to be installed in a tunnel under construction. With a capacity of 450 GPM, this system eliminates sedimentation in the dewatering piping, eliminates the discharge line cleaning process, and facilitates water treatment at the final treatment plant. Technosub has designed and manufactured a dewatering system for a gallery created with a tunnel boring machine for the New York City aqueduct. The system included pumps at the TBM head that deliver water to a Mudwizard® system with a capacity of 450 GPM. Clear water treated by this system is then pumped to the surface, 1000 feet higher, thanks to a system of 3 Multi-Stage Technojet MH pumps of 800 HP and a capacity that may vary from 2400 to 6500 GPM. The sludge is also pumped to the surface via another system, to be disposed properly.
